The Best Piece of Writing Advice I’ve Ever Been Given

The only advice you will ever need

I’ve read a lot of advice recently on how to be a better writer. Trying to game the Medium system, I’ve read lots of different perspectives. All of them claim to be able to help you get money and followers. They promise you accolades with a little bit of hard work.Hard work is exactly what you need. And unfortunately, it’s not a guarantee. The best advice I can ever give you is to write. If you want to be a writer, write. It doesn’t matter what it is, but you can never get anywhere without some practice.Maximize your writing sessions by putting the phone away, turning off all distractions, and writing straight for at least twenty minutes. That gives you time to get into the groove and get your ideas flowing and out of your head.If you ever want to get better, you have to practice your craft. No gimmicks, no false promises. You have to open the computer, or notebook, and put your fingers on the keyboard. You’re never going to get better if you don’t write. So do it.

Thanks, Kamil for tagging me in this challenge. I was challenged to answer the best piece of writing advice I’ve even been given. What about you? What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?
