Writers need things to write about. That’s a fact. The beauty about being a writer is that you can draw inspiration from everything, and your entire life can be a goldmine of content. But, you’re not always lucky when you show up to the page. It’s frustrating to sit down and write and not be able to come up with anything to write about. It makes you want to slam the keyboard and bang your head in frustration. This is why I keep in the habit of writing 10 headline ideas every day.Unfortunately, some days I don’t find any of it inspiring. I look at my list and feel lukewarm writing about any of it.So, I write stream of consciousness for twenty minutes and see what comes up.Often by thought dumping out onto the page, I find myself coming up with ideas. It’s like by doing so, you open the floodgates of your mind. It unleashes old memories and random thoughts that you can make something out of.When you don’t feel like writing and can’t find anything to write about, try writing your thoughts and whatever random things come up.You can write about what you see in your surroundings, list the alphabet repeatedly, or recite lyrics. The act of getting words out on paper will unleash your mind and get you writing again.Have fun.[embed]https://medium.com/new-writers-welcome/do-this-one-trick-every-day-and-watch-your-writing-grow-e377964508a8[/embed]If you’d like to experience the full Medium experience, consider signing up for a membership.
