How to Tune in to Your Body and Use it to Find Your Purpose
We’re all searching for our purpose in life.
You want to spend your time doing something that matters. Something that gives your life meaning. Something that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning.
You want a purpose, you just don’t know how to get it.
First of all, you’re not going to randomly stumble upon your purpose. Your purpose comes as a result of actions.
Second of all, finding your purpose is a process. It’s not something that happens overnight.
But, you can speed up the process by tuning in to your body’s intuition.
Here’s what you’re going to do.
Write down on a piece of paper all the things you’re interested or might be interested in doing.
Write each one of them down on a separate piece of paper. Crumple them up and put them in a jar.
Shake it up good. Then, pluck one out. How does it make you feel?
You want to focus on that one interest.
Start with the first piece of paper and get to work. Ignore all the other pieces of paper and start with one.
Do that activity for at least five minutes. This is so you can gain traction and get a feel for it.
Once you’re done with the activity, assess whether it excited you or drained you. Did it give you a sense of accomplishment? Do you feel better than you did before the activity?
Or did you dread it? Did you hate doing it?
Be careful. At first, you may dread any of it. That’s okay. It’s just resistance. The more you do anything, the less resistance will be in the way.
All these questions will help guide you to the answer.
Be patient. It’s a slow process, but a worthy one
You’re not going to get a sense of purpose right away, but you will get intuition. You can tune into your body and see how it’s responding.
If you’re finding that you have no interest in anything, that may be an indication of a larger problem.
You may be experiencing depression or something similar. Go see a doctor and seek treatment.
When you don’t know what to do, start small, but start. Take the decision out of it by picking interests out of a jar or hat.
Your body will tell you how it feels. So long as you listen, you can find what makes your clock tick and your heart flutter.
With time, the actions you take will build, and you’ll be blessed with the thing you’ve been looking for — purpose.
