This is Your Opportunity to Take the Shot

In high school, The Voice had just started. They were looking for talent and invited musicians to send in self-tapes of their audition. I was beyond thrilled.I told my friends I was going to audition, but I never did.Fast forward a few years. My favorite band was hosting a contest for fans to submit cover videos of their song, and winners would get free concert tickets. This was it. I thought. I figured I had nothing to lose and posted my own video. Two instances — similar circumstances, different results. In one, I was all talk. On the other, I followed through on my intention. There was no difference in my personality, but there was a shift in my mindset. The shift was that I can’t complain about my circumstances if I do nothing to change it.When you have to make a decision, you either have to put up or shut up.You can talk big about whatever you want, but unless you follow through that’s all it is — talk. It leaves you with only one option: are you going to take the shot or not?
