Your Holiday Cheer is Fake And It Shows

The infectious joy and holiday cheer are all fake.

’Tis the season to be jolly. Fa la l- Sorry, did you think I was going to break out into song?

It’s the holiday season and everyone seems to be more cheerful than usual. Something about Christmas gets people in the holiday mood.

During this time of year, we like to pack together with our friends and family and talk about how grateful we are as we exchange gifts under the Christmas tree. Everyone is merry.

Your life is sacred and yet you only give thanks for it at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have a question for you. Why do we only exhibit these behaviors during the holiday season?

Why is it that we only choose to be grateful during this one time of year?

The rest of the year, we’re surrounded by grumpy neighbors and pessimistic coworkers. We express how unhappy we are and how we wish everything was different.

Then, Christmas rolls around and it’s like everything has changed.

Suddenly, we’re stringing tinsel from the trees and buying presents for our loved ones.

Something about this doesn’t add up. Why do we only behave this way during the holidays?

It’s because we choose to. So, why can’t we act this way all year round?

The infectious joy and holiday cheer are all fake. You could be showing your appreciation year-round, but you don’t. You wait for certain, special times of the year to show off.

Never really considering that maybe you should be grateful year-round. You never know just how much time you have left.

Why don’t you express your joy and gratitude more often? It makes the world a better place.

It has a way of rubbing off on you. I implore you to consider stretching your merry attitude past the holiday season and let people know your joyful spirit exists. That it can show up, and it can be year-round.

Treat every day like a holiday and be kind to your fellow neighbor. It’s not that hard to be nice. Just try it. It doesn’t take you that much during the holidays, so try and extend it to past that.

Be kind and gracious every day. Don’t wait around thinking you’ll have another chance to do so. You never know when things could change. Things can change in an instant. So why do you wait?
