Why the Quality of Your Writing Doesn’t Actually Matter
There’s an ongoing debate about whether you should fight for quality or quantity when it comes to writing. When it comes down to it, it’s another excuse to put off the work. By battling over who is right, you are delaying the inevitable. The goal at hand is to write. Yes, you want to write well. But ‘well’ is subjective. You don’t get to decide if your writing is good. That’s your reader's job.Your readers will tell you if what you’re writing is working or if it’s trash. Take it as a grain of salt because there are trolls on the internet.Your quest to have good writing is only going to happen when you start writing. You’re never going to stumble over the holy grail.Quality writing is something that happens over time, as you grow your skillset. Your writing isn’t going to be great right off the bat.The sooner you accept that, the sooner your writing will get better.Once you give up the idea of quality, you will write better automatically. As a result, you’ll get the quality you wanted. It’s only going to happen when you stop chasing it.
